| Hey guys! Ok, well I have over 100K on my beat to hell 310WHP stock 2.0....
I know it wont last much longer so Im planning my new motor...
Im going to stick with a 2.0.. Mainly because I have a V7 6speed and its geared SOOOO low... Just on the highway at 65 Im around 3800RPMs in 6th!
Im always reving and I want another 1K RPMs or so to go up to 8K would be great for my 4th gear pull.
I have a set of V7 Heads (really cheap need rebuild) and I will be running the AVCS.
Im really stuck on the SB. My goals are on the modest side. I only want about 350WHP and MAYBE a 400WHP map to use rarly
I do about..
8 autoX's 2 road course 1 1/4mile a year.
BUT most important its my DD and reliablity is paramount!!!!
a stock V7 SB would be perfect however they seem to be hard to come by and getting pricey. Plus.. Im alittle worried putting a used motor in my DD...
Then I looked into sleeving a USDM 2liter but that would be WAY over kill for what Im looking to do and from what I understand compromises reliability is some occasions.
Finally, Im thiking about simply tossing some internals into a USDM block and calling it a day.
What do you think? | |

| I suggest if you can get another USDM motor put it on a stand and build it over the winter. When it is done we pull the other motor and throw in your built one. They do sell moderate sleves as I have that in my engine to allow for better cooling. |

basicly my motor is a fully open deck... pretty weak and the cly towers can actually deflect at high RPMs.... Sti's (usdm and jdm) have semi closed decks which basicly has ribs supporting it then the closed deck is almost a solid peice of AL!!! INSANE strong and reliable. Steve, Ill talk to ya later about sleeves. but as of now the sleves makes me nervious. I was thinking about pinning my block to basicly makes my block a semi closed deck... I DONT KNOW!!!

| Unfortunately no one is selling ej20 motors anymore. Cobb, Axis, Cosworth, all selling ej257 motors only now. Your best bet if you have to have a 2.0 liter is to build up yours or just be patient for an ej207 to show up on the boards. The problem with those JDM motors is they are designed with higher compression because they run on higher octane fuel. Our us market gas definitely does not get them running optimally, even with a tune. throw some 98ron in there and you're off and running. If I were you I'd get the 2.5 liter. You'll see much better torque and a lot less turbo lag. power comes on early, better for autoXing (which I know you love), and you have more options. An entry level Axis shortblock will run you $2500 with forged pistons, forged crank, and forged rods. The next one up is a balance version able to rotate at 10,000rpms for $4300. That's the one you should get, better for DD and racing IMHO. http://www.raw1performance.com/index_files/Page580.html |

| I knew you had the heads already... they'd still work with the ej257. Did you get the big port heads? |

| That Axis block I referenced revs to 10 grand and uses all forged internals. That is not enough revs or reliability for ya? |

| Mostly, I love OEM reliablility.
Also, I really not a fan of the hybrid motors. I think they are knock happy. I just like keepin everything simple.
